Tributes and Acknowledgements

A Tribute to Our Charter Members

This tribute honors the seventeen visionary women who, fifty years ago, laid the foundation for the Reston (VA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. They built more than a chapter; they built a legacy of friendship, leadership, and service that continues to shine through every program, partnership, and act of kindness today.

Through reflections and personal memories, this video celebrates the courage, compassion, and brilliance of our founding members —our golden jewels —who made it possible for us to serve with purpose and lead with friendship.

Watch and join us in honoring the women whose light continues to guide our path and inspire future generations.

A Message from Our National President

We were deeply honored to receive warm anniversary greetings from Ethel Isaacs Williams, National President of The Links, Incorporated and The Links Foundation, Incorporated. Speaking virtually from Cape Town, South Africa, President Williams extended heartfelt congratulations to the Reston (VA) Chapter on fifty years of friendship and service.

Her message celebrated our legacy, recognized our leaders past and present, and expressed gratitude to our families, friends, and supporters who have stood beside us through every season of service. She reminded us to celebrate fully, dance with joy, and then continue the important work that defines who we are.

A Message from Our National Vice-President

We were honored to receive a beautiful message from Shuana Tucker Sims, National Vice President of The Links, Incorporated, as we celebrated our 50th Anniversary. Her words reminded us that our Legacy of a Golden Jewel theme perfectly reflects who we are — enduring in value, steadfast in purpose, and radiant in service.

She praised our chapter’s lasting commitment to making a difference, empowering generations, and showing love through friendship and service. Her message also recognized the families and supporters who stand beside us, helping make this work possible.
